Hamerkaz Ha'Israeli is the "Home away from home" for Israelis and Hebrew speakers visiting or residing in Australia. Hamerkaz Ha'Israeli was established by Israel's Consul General in 1995 as the first Hebrew speakers organisation in Melbourne, and has been operating continuously since then.

Affiliated with the State Zionist Council of Victoria, Hamerkaz Ha'Israeli offers various social and cultural activities, including weekly meetings on Thursday evenings at Beth Weizmann, where members and visitors can enjoy:

• Guest speakers, both local and visitors from overseas, on a variety of topics of interest, ranging from Israeli politics to maintaining one’s health.
• Performances by musicians, singers and other artists as well as Israeli sing-a-long sessions.
• Members and visitors can regularly watch the weekly video from Israeli television, read newspapers, and enjoy refreshments and the company of other Hebrew speakers.
